Mercruiser Carb 1300-8M01627 Replace or Repair?

So the carb has been changed a bunch of times to the new carb.  1300-8M01627. Unfortunately this carb is on back order as the company that makes the carb for Mercruiser is closed down so I don't know how long it will be.  It is also quite a bit more expensive.

According to Mercruiser, the repair kit will work with you existing carb ("they believe") but that it wouldn't work with the new carb completely as the new carb has some different items.   So you would get most of the parts you need to repair the carb. but you might, if you have the newer carb, you could need to get some additional repair parts.   All the
gaskets should be the same though in the repair kit.

I think I would get the repair kit and then take the carb somewhere and get it rebuilt.
