Hello:

I would need to have a serial number of your existing engine to give you a quote.

As your probably know, GM (who made the blocks for Volvo Penta) is no longer making the 5.7 so Volvo Penta has replaced the 5.7L with the 5.3 or the 6.0L engine depending upon horsepower. But if you go with the new engines you need to also replace the drive as well as the new engines have a higher RPM range. I can quote you these options.

I can still supply a 5.7 long block (once I know the serial number) as Volvo Penta still has some of these around in their stock.

The other option is to replace the Volvo Penta with a remanufactured Mercruiser. Mercruiser makes their own 5.7L engines and then bores and strokes them out (depending upon the engine HP) and offers them for a pretty good price. They are not exactly drop ins, but fairly easy to install and they will work perfectly with your existing outdrives and controls. The really nice aspect of these remanufactured engines is they come with a good year warranty and as they are considered “remans”, they are not subject to any EPA or DEP regulations.
